Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Moore! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Woolfolk! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Moore dips to his left and cracks Woolfolk with an uppercut!
It looks like Joe Woolfolk has been cut. Moore fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Woolfolk on the side of the head. Woolfolk is trying hard to land a takedown here. Moore sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Woolfolk looking for a takedown here - he's got it. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Moore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Woolfolk trying to control but Moore is working from the bottom. Moore is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Moore working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Woolfolk doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Woolfolk manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Woolfolk is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Woolfolk makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Moore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Woolfolk passes easily into side control. Nice work. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Moore is looking to reverse the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Woolfolk working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Woolfolk is looking to take a break and control but Moore is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Moore is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Woolfolk is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Woolfolk landing strikes, looking to finish! Woolfolk lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Moore knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Woolfolk on the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Woolfolk loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Moore scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Woolfolk land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Woolfolk stands and salutes the crowd.
