The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gurgel takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Gurgel tries to keep at a distance but Koike has taken the fight into the clinch. Gurgel tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Koike's elbow. Gurgel turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gurgel manages to end up in side control. Gurgel working the ground and pound but Koike is defending the strikes. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Koike has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Gurgel lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Koike! Jorge Gurgel has got the better of the ground game so far.

Koike seems comfortable defending it but Gurgel has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Koike is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Koike is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gurgel couldn't care less - he's delighted!
