PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Kramer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wojciech Szela (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Johnny Kramer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wojciech Szela!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Dmitry Maklakov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Szela stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Szela wants it to stay on the feet.
Kramer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Szela tries to clinch but Kramer moves out of range.
Szela throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Szela closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Kramer quickly recovers to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Kramer tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Szela has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Szela is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Kramer fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Kramer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kramer tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Szela swivels and escapes.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Szela looks for a takedown but Kramer sprawls well.
Kramer shoots in looking for a takedown. Szela tries to sprawl out of it but Kramer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Szela manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Szela gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Szela tries for a takedown but Kramer manages to get underhooks.
Szela tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Kramer as Szela tries to tie him up.
Kramer has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Szela avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kramer has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Szela regains guard immediately.
Szela utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Szela tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Szela is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Kramer throwing strikes from guard but Szela blocks nicely.
Kramer connects with a couple of short punches.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kramer's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kramer keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Szela's head.
Kramer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Szela trying to keep a closed guard but Kramer is proving a slippery customer.
Szela looks gassed!

Kramer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Szela manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kramer has Szela in his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kramer has an active guard here but Szela has managed to pass into half guard.

Kramer actively working from the bottom here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kramer is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Kramer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Szela is working away from the top position though.
Kramer flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Kramer has a hand on Szela's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Szela takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kramer throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Szela can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kramer is looking to escape.
Kramer is arching his back trying to strike from the bottom but Szela turns him over and now has his back.
Szela is trying to stick to Kramer's back but Kramer is turning into Szela. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Szela's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Kramer.
Kramer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Kramer advances to half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Szela is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Kramer scores with a couple of nice shots.
Szela should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kramer is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Kramer lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Johnny Kramer dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Szela fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kramer fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Szela leaves Kramer with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kramer fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Szela sprawls well initially but Kramer persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kramer lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Szela on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.


Szela is rocked!
Johnny Kramer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Szela is still in real trouble! Can Kramer finish him?
Kramer lands a big elbow - Szela is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Kramer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johnny Kramer!
