PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Sean Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dishaun Ringle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson's entrance music is Kings and Queens. A fine choice. The key to victory for Sean Jackson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sean Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dishaun Ringle!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Ringle moves into the clinch.
Ringle is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jackson lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Jackson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Ringle walks away with a smile on his face. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Dishaun Ringle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ringle takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
A head kick from Jackson lands but Ringle takes it in his stride.
A combination from Jackson does no damage.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Ringle moves out of range easily.
Jackson's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jackson duly obliges.
Ringle fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jackson tries to clinch there but Ringle circles away.
Jackson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jackson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ringle circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson leaves Ringle with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Ringle takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Jackson throws a series of punches but Ringle avoids them all with ease.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Jackson.
Jackson throws a head kick that half lands.

Ringle fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jackson, pushing him back against the cage.
Ringle is looking for a takedown.
Ringle looks gassed!

Ringle gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Jackson is trying to control but can't.

Ringle is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Jackson trying to hold on to Ringle's head to control him but Ringle postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ringle works his way into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jackson tries to escape but Ringle is in control.
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Ringle tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ringle has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson tries to control but Ringle manages to take his back.
Jackson looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Ringle patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Ringle is trying to stick to Jackson's back but Jackson is turning into Ringle. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ringle's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jackson.

Jackson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Ringle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jackson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ringle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jackson has managed to get both his arms back between Ringle's legs - danger averted.
Jackson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Ringle is looking for a triangle but Jackson pushes his legs off easily.
Jackson wants to control from the top but Ringle keeps moving.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ringle looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jackson postures up in Ringle's guard and throws a big left but Ringle blocks it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dishaun Ringle will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Jackson wants to clinch up but Ringle keeps it at a distance.
Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Ringle avoids it really well and circles away.
Jackson connects with a high kick.
Jackson throws a head kick that half lands.
Jackson fails with a takedown attempt.
Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ringle tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ringle to the ground. Ringle escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Jackson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ringle dives in and grabs Jackson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes down on Ringle's head and hops out.
Jackson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sean Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Ringle fails with a takedown attempt.
Ringle is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackson lands with a slapping head kick.
Jackson throws a series of punches but Ringle moves out of range.
Ringle stuffs the takedown attempt from Jackson. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet.
A head kick by Jackson misses

and Ringle counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Ringle postures up.
Ringle stopping the sweep attempt from Jackson.

Ringle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ringle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dishaun Ringle has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jackson has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Ringle should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Jackson has tightened it up now! Ringle should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Sean Jackson!
Sean Jackson decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
