Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dan Claude VanSevern!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dirt McGirt!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McGirt closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. VanSevern quickly recovers to half guard.
VanSevern regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from McGirt.
VanSevern not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
McGirt throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

VanSevern is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McGirt is aware though and is defending well.
McGirt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as VanSevern works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
McGirt with a nice head shot there.
VanSevern controls McGirt momentarily but McGirt frees himself.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGirt connects with a couple of short punches.
McGirt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with VanSevern. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
McGirt throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as VanSevern works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
VanSevern is trying to keep McGirt in close.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGirt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
McGirt throws a big right hand that misses.
McGirt is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as VanSevern holds on and takes a little breather.
McGirt throwing strikes from guard but VanSevern blocks nicely.

VanSevern controls McGirt momentarily but McGirt frees himself.
VanSevern pulls McGirt in close to prevent any damage.
McGirt won't allow VanSevern to sweep him here.
VanSevern is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dan Claude VanSevern just wasn't active enough.
VanSevern slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Nice cross by VanSevern.
McGirt on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
VanSevern listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
McGirt fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McGirt fails with the takedown.
McGirt takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
McGirt needs to keep his hands up - VanSevern had a free shot at his head there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
VanSevern throws the left hand but McGirt avoids the punch easily.
VanSevern stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and VanSevern wants it to stay on the feet.
Dan Claude VanSevern has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dirt McGirt.
VanSevern leaves McGirt with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
VanSevern jabs McGirt right on the nose. McGirt blinks but takes it well.
Dan Claude VanSevern seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGirt fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but VanSevern avoids it really well and circles away.
McGirt looks gassed!
VanSevern jabs McGirt right on the nose. McGirt blinks but takes it well.
VanSevern lands with an overhand left.
VanSevern throws a quick inside leg kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts VanSevern, as that shot connected.
VanSevern is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
McGirt fails with a takedown attempt.
VanSevern scores with a sloppy right hand. McGirt should have avoided that one.


It looks like Dirt McGirt has been cut.
McGirt tries to clinch up but VanSevern circles away and keeps his distance.
VanSevern clobbers McGirt with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Decent striking displayed by VanSevern there.


McGirt is rocked!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
VanSevern connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks McGirt out cold! This one is over in a flash!
