Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Trig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Staunton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Trig! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Steve Staunton! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Staunton tries a head kick but it misses.
Frank Trig seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Trig drives through and clinches with Staunton against the cage.
Trig jumps guard but Staunton stands there with Trig around his waist. Trig gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Trig manages to break the clinch.
Left hook, right uppercut from Trig. Trig fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Staunton with a lazy takedown attempt and Trig makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Staunton really felt that one! Trig changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Staunton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Staunton tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. You can see the frustration on Staunton's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Trig passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Staunton! Trig in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. The referee warns Staunton that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Trig takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Poor strikes thrown by Trig there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Trig is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Trig extends the arm and Staunton is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Frank Trig!
