Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 29 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vincenzo Calliente! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roy Brown! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Calliente.
Brown displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Calliente. Calliente shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brown defends it nicely. Calliente fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vincenzo Calliente. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Calliente.
Brown defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Calliente. Calliente shoots in for a double leg but Brown sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Brown shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Calliente as he jumps to the side. Calliente fails with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Calliente is defended easily by Brown. Brown looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Calliente moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Brown stands up over Calliente, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Brown is looking to work some ground and pound but Calliente has wrist control. Brown trying to control the position from guard on top but Calliente is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Calliente trying to control the position here. Calliente preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brown looking to pass the guard. Brown throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brown lands a couple of decent looking shots. Calliente looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brown is one step ahead there. Brown throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Calliente works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Brown throws a big right hand that misses. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Brown's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Calliente has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Brown throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Calliente throws a series of punches but Brown moves out of range. No luck for Brown with that takedown attempt. Sloppy strikes from Calliente. Those never looked like landing. Calliente shoots in and bounces Brown off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Brown has his foot on Calliente's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Calliente works his way back into a safe position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Brown looking for a sweep. Not yet Brown, not yet. Calliente tries to free his leg and advance position but Brown is retaining full guard. Calliente stands up and waves to Brown to follow him. Calliente throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brown's waist but Brown gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Calliente off to one side. Calliente throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Brown looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Calliente is fending him off so far but Brown persists. Nope, Calliente circles away and we're back to standing. Vincenzo Calliente is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Brown fails with the takedown and Calliente counters with a single leg into guard. Brown didn't expect that. Brown has his foot on Calliente's thigh. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brown is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Calliente is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Calliente raining down hammerfists from mount. Calliente looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

It looks like Roy Brown has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Calliente trying to control but Brown is having none of it. Brown taking shots to the head. Calliente trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Calliente trying to control but Brown is having none of it. Calliente lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Calliente fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Brown is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Calliente is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Brown has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Calliente can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brown is looking to escape. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Brown manages to regain half guard. Good work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vincenzo Calliente dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Roy Brown's cut. That's time! Calliente's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Brown slips a jab and a cross from Calliente.
Brown slaps away a takedown attempt from Calliente, before circling back to the center of the mat. Calliente looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Danga de danga de dang - Calliente scores with a four punch combination!
That's one minute gone in the round. Calliente tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Calliente somewhat. Calliente scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Brown stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brown wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vincenzo Calliente. That's going to take a lot out of him. Calliente misses with a two punch combination.
Vincenzo Calliente seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Calliente's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Calliente duly obliges. No luck for Calliente with that takedown attempt. Brown tries for a takedown but Calliente circles away easily and Calliente counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Brown's guard now. Brown keeping moving, preventing Calliente from controlling successfully. Brown tries to land a sweep but no joy. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brown is looking to sinch up a triangle. Calliente throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Brown's body to avoid the submission. Brown has instead reached around Calliente's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Brown arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
