Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rico Garza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garza comes to the cage accompanied by Run This Town. Thomas has chosen Lets Go as his entrance music. Rico Garza could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jake Thomas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rico Garza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thomas manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Garza on his heels. He'll look to pass Garza's guard now, I'm sure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Garza pushes Thomas off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Garza looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Garza throws a solid leg kick but Thomas takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Garza.

Thomas shoots in and gets a takedown into Garza's guard.
Thomas with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Garza wants to stand but Thomas is controlling the position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thomas throws a big elbow that misses.
Thomas in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Thomas stands up over Garza, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Thomas thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Thomas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Thomas pushes Garza up against the cage in a clinch.
Garza is looking to break free of the clinch but Thomas has double underhooks.

Thomas is looking for a triangle but Garza pushes his legs off easily.
Garza is looking to stand up but Thomas won't let him.

Thomas is working an open guard so Garza takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Garza attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Thomas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rico Garza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Thomas shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Garza manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Thomas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Thomas stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Garza to get to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Garza tries to land a leg kick but Thomas saw it coming and moves away.

Garza does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Thomas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Garza tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Thomas is in Garza's guard.
Jake Thomas has got the better of the ground game so far.
Thomas chips away with some ground and pound.
Garza wants to stand but Thomas is controlling the position.

Oooooh!!! Garza has knocked Thomas down with a huge combo! Garza steps away and waves a wobbly Thomas back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Garza pushes Thomas away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Thomas gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Thomas cracks Garza with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Thomas working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Garza turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Thomas off and cradles Garza's limp body as Thomas celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Jake Thomas!
A relieved looking Jake Thomas thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
