PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksander Lens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buddy Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lens comes to the cage accompanied by End of Days. The crowd seem to be enjoying Dixon's choice of entrance music: Here Comes The Boom. Buddy Dixon told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lens closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Dixon did well to prevent Lens getting side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lens in particular looking to stall.
Dixon keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Lens keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Lens has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Aleksander Lens wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Lens steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Dixon.
Dixon misses with a double jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Lens.
Lens avoids the body shot from Dixon.

Dixon shoots in for a double leg but Lens sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Dixon looks to land a combination but Lens avoids it well.

Lens shoots in and gets a takedown into Dixon's guard.
Dixon throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Lens working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Dixon's head.
Dixon trying to keep a closed guard but Lens is proving a slippery customer.

Lens not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lens throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dixon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lens postures up.
Lens in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lens wants to control from the top but Dixon keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Buddy Dixon wasn't active enough on the ground.

Lens closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Dixon quickly recovers to half guard.

Dixon is looking to escape.
Lens has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Lens cracks Dixon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

It looks like Buddy Dixon has been cut.
Dixon looks gassed!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lens controlling the pace for now.
Lens fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Dixon is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lens cracks Dixon with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Lens is landing with some decent strikes but Dixon is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Lens has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Dixon's face.

The cut above Buddy Dixon's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Lens with shots to the head and body - Dixon looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Buddy Dixon's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Buddy Dixon's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
