Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oisin O Conghaile (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Corbett might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Men at Work - Down Under. O Conghaile is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Deer's Cry by Angelina. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Corbett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oisin O Conghaile!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

O Conghaile pushes Corbett up against the cage in a clinch.
O Conghaile trying to control the position but instead, Corbett has worked for underhooks and has pushed O Conghaile into the cage.
O Conghaile leaning against his opponent.
Corbett slows down the pace here.

Corbett gets control of O Conghaile's arms and successfully pulls guard. Corbett will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
O Conghaile has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Corbett is proving hard to escape from.

O Conghaile drops back looking for a leg! Corbett is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Corbett manages to kick O Conghaile off! O Conghaile jumps back into Corbett's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as O Conghaile accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Corbett controls O Conghaile momentarily but O Conghaile frees himself.

Corbett is trying to maintain the position but O Conghaile is very close to passing his half guard.

O Conghaile is looking for a kimura but Corbett is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for O Conghaile to get the leverage.
Corbett wants to improve his position but O Conghaile is controlling well.
Corbett is pressing down on O Conghaile's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Corbett looking to hit a scissor sweep but O Conghaile is one step ahead there.

Corbett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
O Conghaile must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
O Conghaile looking to sit in guard and control but Corbett gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Corbett trying to control the position from guard on top but O Conghaile is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Corbett is really struggling to control O Conghaile but he's trying to hold on to the position.
O Conghaile sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

O Conghaile looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
O Conghaile gets full guard.
Corbett pushes down on O Conghaile's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Corbett is working for a kimura but O Conghaile is defending it quite comfortably.
O Conghaile is trying to control but can't.

Corbett is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

O Conghaile looking to hit a scissor sweep but Corbett is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Corbett wants to control from the top but O Conghaile keeps moving.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Corbett is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


O Conghaile keeps the fight on the outside.
Corbett tries to close the distance and clinch but O Conghaile swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Corbett is looking to clinch.
O Conghaile throws a head kick but Corbett moves out of range.
Oisin O Conghaile is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
O Conghaile pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Corbett checks a leg kick.
Corbett tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but O Conghaile paws at him with a jab and circles away.

O Conghaile rushes Corbett and presses him up against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Corbett.
O Conghaile misses with some punches.
O Conghaile misses with a hook from the clinch.
Corbett creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through O Conghaile's defenses.


It looks like Oisin O Conghaile has been cut.
O Conghaile wants to stall.
O Conghaile lands a hook to the side of the head.
O Conghaile working aggressively here.
Corbett looking to slow down the pace here.

O Conghaile breaks from the clinch.
A low kick from O Conghaile is predictable there
and Corbett counters with a leg kick.
Corbett scores with a crisp jab that stopped O Conghaile in his tracks.
Corbett throws a low kick but it's checked well by O Conghaile.
Oisin O Conghaile seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Corbett moves into the clinch.
O Conghaile is looking to control Corbett's arms but Corbett gets an underhook and turns him. Now O Conghaile has his back to the cage.

Corbett tries to stall but O Conghaile uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Corbett is trying to pull guard but O Conghaile turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

O Conghaile lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

O Conghaile misses with a punch to the body.
Corbett will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning O Conghaile up against the cage.
O Conghaile tries to work over Corbett's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Nice body punch from O Conghaile - that landed with a thud.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

O Conghaile breaks from the clinch.
Corbett uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before O Conghaile has time to react.
Corbett tries to land a front kick but O Conghaile steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

O Conghaile moves into the clinch.
O Conghaile wants to break the clinch but can't.
O Conghaile stalling in the clinch.
Corbett lands an elbow that stopped O Conghaile in his tracks for a moment.
O Conghaile tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Corbett's elbow.
Corbett is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. O Conghaile is defending well for now.

Oisin O Conghaile seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
O Conghaile is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Corbett blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Corbett's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
O Conghaile can't find room to land a body shot as Corbett controls the action.
Corbett is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables O Conghaile to keep the fight standing.
Corbett lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of O Conghaile backwards.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Corbett is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

O Conghaile drops back, looking for a kneebar! Corbett looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Corbett looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Corbett!
Corbett has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for O Conghaile!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Nice uppercut lands for Corbett. That snapped O Conghaile's head back.

letting Corbett counter with a right hand.

Corbett is looking to control O Conghaile's arms but O Conghaile gets an underhook and turns him. Now Corbett has his back to the cage.
Maybe Corbett would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Corbett jumps into guard, dragging O Conghaile to the mat.
O Conghaile pushing down on Corbett's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
O Conghaile is trying to control. Corbett wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

O Conghaile wants to work for an arm triangle but Corbett is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

O Conghaile stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

O Conghaile clinches up with Corbett and pushes him back against the cage.
O Conghaile tries to throw a body punch but Corbett avoids it by throwing O Conghaile back against the cage.
Corbett lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


Oisin O Conghaile's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
O Conghaile misses with a shot to the kidneys.
O Conghaile swings away with an uppercut that misses.
O Conghaile is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Corbett lands a hook that snaps the head of O Conghaile backwards.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Corbett prevents O Conghaile from breaking the clinch.

Corbett creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Corbett lands an elbow inside.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Oisin O Conghaile's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:10 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Nathan Corbett!
Nathan Corbett seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
