PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joel Sands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Camden Brooking (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Camden Brooking!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Brooking is squirming around, avoiding Sands's attempts to control the action.
Brooking is looking to improve his position but Sands isn't that keen on the idea.

Sands can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brooking is looking to escape.

Brooking escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sands gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sands wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brooking keeps working.

Brooking is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Sands off and has taken his back!

Brooking is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Sands is defending well though. Brooking let's go of the attempt for now.

Sands is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Brooking gets his way!

Camden Brooking showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Sands throws a leg kick which misses Brooking's front leg but catches the back leg as Brooking tries to avoid it.

Brooking working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sands doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sands manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
