The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Micheangelo Fripello and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Downs gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bruvik counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Downs.

Bruvik tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Downs was well out of range. Poor timing from Bruvik.
Bruvik throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Downs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bruvik manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Bruvik throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Downs fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Bruvik tries to sprawl but Downs drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Bruvik looks like he's trying to stand up.
Downs wants to free his trapped foot but Bruvik is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Bruvik is concentrating on defense, preventing Downs from advancing position.
Downs trying to mount his opponent but Bruvik defends it.
Downs wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bruvik keeps working.

Downs tries to pass to full mount but Bruvik defends it.
Bruvik on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Downs will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Downs is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Downs wants to work for an arm triangle but Bruvik is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Downs tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bruvik knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Downs pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bruvik is keeping the position for now.
Bruvik keeping moving, preventing Downs from controlling successfully.
Downs looking to sit in guard and control but Bruvik gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Bruvik seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Bruvik is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Downs has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Bruvik is looking to defend but Downs has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Bruvik! Downs pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Bruvik taps out and this one is all over!
