PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Takeshi Kusimuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kusimuki comes to the cage accompanied by National Anthem Of Japan. Lee is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tourniquet . Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Takeshi Kusimuki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bruce Lee!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Anthony Taglia and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kusimuki misses with an uppercut. Lee saw that one coming.
Lee missing with a left hand there. Kusimuki was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Lee lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lee.
Kusimuki takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kusimuki keeps the fight on the outside.

Lee shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kusimuki napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Kusimuki is looking to control Lee's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kusimuki avoid being mounted?

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Lee cracks Kusimuki with a right hand to the side of the head.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kusimuki enables Lee to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kusimuki manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Kusimuki is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Well, if Kusimuki is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Lee working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kusimuki doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kusimuki manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kusimuki slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bruce Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kusimuki as he jumps to the side.
Lee throws the left hand but Kusimuki avoids the punch easily.
Lee shoots for a double leg takedown but Kusimuki sprawls well. He's pushed Lee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Kusimuki takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Lee fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kusimuki manages to avoid it.

and Kusimuki counters with a three punch combo that has Lee backing up. Lee nods at Kusimuki to acknowledge the strikes.
Lee throws a jab but it's blocked by Kusimuki.
Lee is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kusimuki sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Takeshi Kusimuki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Lee.

Lee might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

It looks like Bruce Lee has been cut.
Kusimuki scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lee throws a hook to the side of Kusimuki's head but Kusimuki sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Takeshi Kusimuki has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kusimuki paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lee throws a big shot that misses.

Still in the clinch, Kusimuki scores with a nice short uppercut.
Lee tries to pull guard but Kusimuki won't allow it.
Kusimuki tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Lee drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kusimuki pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lee sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Kusimuki looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range.

enabling Kusimuki to counter with a crisp jab.

Kusimuki lands a left and a right that send Lee crashing to the mat, dazed. Kusimuki thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
