Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sean Jackson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Garrick! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson misses with a takedown and Garrick counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Garrick wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well. Garrick tries for a kimura but Jackson is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garrick looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. This has been an exciting period of action! Jackson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Garrick is working for a submission of some sort.
Garrick is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garrick is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jackson sees it coming and defends easily. Jackson is trying to stand up here but Garrick is controlling him well. Jackson tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Garrick frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Garrick working for a submission but Jackson is keeping him at bay. Garrick is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Jackson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Garrick looking for a guillotine from mount but Jackson is having none of it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Garrick takes his opponent's back. Perhaps a chance to lock up a rear naked choke here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garrick is working for a rear naked choke. Jackson is not defending it well and Garrick has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Jackson refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Jackson's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jay Garrick! Jay Garrick is the new bantamweight champion!
