The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Panetovich throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mesika was covering up waiting for the punch and Panetovich finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Panetovich lands a couple of elbows.
Panetovich tries to free his leg and advance position but Mesika is retaining full guard.
Panetovich engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Mesika might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Panetovich got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mesika has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Panetovich has managed to get both his arms back between Mesika's legs - danger averted.
Panetovich advances to half guard.

Panetovich has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mesika could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Panetovich connects with a nice short shot to Mesika's temple.
Panetovich landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Mesika is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Panetovich seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Mesika is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
