PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jato Liko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerwazy Obuch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Obuch has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jato Liko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gerwazy Obuch!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obuch takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Obuch throws a right hand that misses

and Liko counters with a nice double leg into side control. Obuch won't be happy with that.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Obuch tries to get back to half guard but can't.
You can see the frustration on Obuch's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Obuch looks gassed!

Liko tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Liko has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Obuch tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Obuch is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Obuch isn't going anywhere.

Liko tries to stand but Obuch is controlling his head.
Liko wants to stand but Obuch has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Obuch is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Liko wants to control from the top but Obuch keeps moving.
Liko landing with the ground and pound.

Obuch wants to sweep but no luck.
Liko has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Obuch is proving hard to escape from.
Liko wants to pass the guard but Obuch is keeping the position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Obuch is pulling down on Liko's head. It's preventing any offense from Liko, at least for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Obuch looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Liko closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Liko lands in his opponent's guard.

Obuch looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Obuch working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Liko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Liko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Obuch gets the takedown into side control.
Obuch looks up at the clock and then as Liko takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Obuch smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Liko is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Obuch is controlling him well.
Liko is looking to regain half guard here but Obuch keeps moving and retains side control.
Liko is working hard here to advance position.
Obuch tries to advance to mount but Liko denies him.
Liko is trying to escape the position but Obuch is controlling the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Liko is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Obuch is controlling him well.
Obuch lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Liko down.
Liko pushes Obuch away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Obuch gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Obuch controls the position from side control.
Obuch works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Liko is trying to improve his position.
Liko can't do much from the bottom here.
Liko is looking for a sweep.
Liko really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Obuch has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Liko in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Obuch lands a nice shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Obuch lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Obuch content just to control the position here.

Obuch lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Liko hang on?
Obuch controlling his opponent.
Liko tries to lock up and control but Obuch gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gerwazy Obuch has got the better of the ground game so far.

Obuch takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Obuch is landing with some decent strikes but Liko is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Obuch controlling his opponent.
Liko is bucking up trying to escape but Obuch cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Obuch takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Liko can't escape the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Liko wants to try and get back to his feet.
Obuch lands a big elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Obuch avoids the attempt from Liko to control.
Liko in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gerwazy Obuch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Obuch lands a nice leg kick that just misses Liko's sensitive parts.
Obuch throws out a leg kick but Liko moves out of range and Obuch only half commits.
Liko misses with a wild combination.

Liko closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Liko tries to stand and escape but Obuch is controlling the position.
Obuch keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Obuch moves into full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Obuch looking to hit a scissor sweep but Liko is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Liko in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Obuch looking for a triangle here. Liko is fighting it but it looks tight! Obuch pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Liko is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Gerwazy Obuch!
