18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kristow Zedski! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zedski throws a nice outside leg kick. Zedski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Potatos stuffs the takedown. Potatos tries to clinch up. Zedski has his takedown stuffed and Potatos counters with a nice body shot. Jack Potatos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kristow Zedski. Zedski tries to score a power double leg takedown but Potatos sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Zedski somewhat. Potatos listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Jab by Potatos. Potatos lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Zedski shoots in looking for a takedown but Potatos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Zedski's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Potatos throws a shot to the body.
Potatos throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Zedski looks gassed! Zedski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Potatos circles away. Potatos throws a leg kick which misses Zedski's front leg but catches the back leg as Zedski tries to avoid it. Potatos lands a jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potatos feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Zedski's calf. Potatos clinches up against the cage. Potatos stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. A right handed body shot lands from Potatos.
Potatos is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Zedski is defending well for now. Potatos lands a body shot in the clinch.
Potatos lands a right hand that snaps the head of Zedski backwards. Potatos just leaning against Zedski, taking a breather. Zedski is trying desperately to land a takedown but Potatos is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Zedski. Zedski is looking for a takedown. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A quick uppercut on the inside from Potatos. Potatos pushes Zedski back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. A quick uppercut on the inside from Potatos. Potatos gets underhooks to prevent Zedski's takedown attempt.
Nice elbow from Potatos. A short right from Potatos on the inside. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Potatos creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Zedski is rocked! Potatos dips a shoulder and cracks Zedski with a mighty uppercut! Zedski falls back against the cage and Potatos unloads with a barrage of strikes! Zedski is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Potatos screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Potatos! Jack Potatos retains his heavyweight title! Jack Potatos looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'Apologise for last losses wont happend again....hmmm who's next?'.
