Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Robbie Ruger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Conan Jones! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Atkins and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ruger slow jab from Jones misses its intended target. Ruger closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Jones fails to pull guard.
Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ruger just stands there and leans against the cage. Robbie Ruger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Conan Jones. Jones avoids the elbow strike from Ruger, against the cage.
Ruger throws a knee to the head but misses.
Ruger landing knees to the head.
Jones jumps guard but Ruger stands there with Jones around his waist. Jones gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jones drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ruger throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Jones is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Stalling in the clinch from Ruger.
Ruger lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Ruger is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ruger down to the mat. Ruger avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jones shoots in for a double leg but Ruger sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ruger scores with a nice right hand.
Ruger is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Ruger pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch. Jones is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Ruger. Ruger tries to land knees in the clinch but Jones avoids the damage to the body. Jones tries to pull guard but Ruger won't allow it.

Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ruger just stands there and leans against the cage. Ruger's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Ruger gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. Ruger seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. Jones manages to pull guard.
Ruger decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Ruger tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range. Jones moves into the clinch successfully.
Ruger tries a knee to the head but Jones blocks it.

Ruger prevents a takedown attempt there.
Ruger with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Jones has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ruger avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Ruger.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ruger fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jones looks gassed! Ruger tries to clinch and Jones counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ruger's guard now. Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ruger swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ruger keeping full guard, as Jones tries to pass. Ruger is pulling down on Jones's head. It's preventing any offense from Jones, at least for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones trying to control but Ruger is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. A leg kick checked by Jones. Jones shoots in for a double leg but Ruger sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ruger closes the distance and clinches. Ruger tries a knee to the head but Jones blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ruger lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Ruger throws an elbow but it misses.

Jones goes for a takedown attempt but Ruger pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ruger tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Jones counters with a shoot takedown. Ruger fights it but they end up in guard. Jones trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Ruger is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Ruger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones thows a big elbow that misses. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Robbie Ruger will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Ruger swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ruger tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range. Ruger tries to clinch so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jones throws a strike but Ruger rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Ruger wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ruger gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ruger would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Ruger passes Jones's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jones wants to improve his position but Ruger is controlling well.
Jones throws a strike from the bottom but Ruger passes into side control!
Jones struggling a bit here. Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruger decides to stand back up. Ruger steps back and let's Jones get back to his feet. Ruger gets a clinch. Jones is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Ruger gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Stalling in the clinch from Jones.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Jones wants a takedown but no success here.
Jones is breathing heavily. Jones can't get the takedown.
Robbie Ruger has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Conan Jones. Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ruger just stands there and leans against the cage. Ruger lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Ruger lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Ruger is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ruger down to the mat. Ruger avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jones wants to clinch. Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruger.

Robbie Ruger is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jones keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ruger. Jones closes the distance and clinches. Ruger stops a takedown attempt from Jones.
Jones tries to pull guard but Ruger holds him up against the cage and eventually Jones drops back down to his feet.
Jones tries to score a body lock takedown but Ruger shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Ruger's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Ruger wants to stall.

Ruger makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Ruger connects with a nasty looking knee right to Jones's face.

That was a close second round but I would say that Robbie Ruger will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
The fight stays on the outside here - Ruger looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Jones pushes Ruger up against the cage in a clinch. Ruger misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jones.

Ruger is sitting in close to Jones's body. Jones has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Ruger is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ruger is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Jones.
