Conwell is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by David Bowie ft David Guetta - Just For One Day (Heroes). Nicolas Karkmananis has the better chin. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Conwell slips under a jab from Karkmananis.

Conwell is looking to work some ground and pound but Karkmananis has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Karkmananis throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Karkmananis tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Conwell is able to avoid easily.
Karkmananis tries to close the distance and clinch up but Conwell swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Karkmananis wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Conwell has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

and Karkmananis makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Oooh a lovely combination from Karkmananis sends Conwell down but not out. Karkmananis dives into side control looking to finish.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Conwell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Karkmananis holds on and takes a little breather.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Karkmananis had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Conwell defends it easily.
