Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mr Small! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Wrassle! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Small looks for a takedown but Wrassle sprawls well. Small takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Small shoots in but Wrassle avoids the takedown attempt easily. Small closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Wrassle's guard. Small lands a couple of digs. Wrassle looking for a sweep. Not yet Wrassle, not yet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wrassle can do anything to dispel that myth. Wrassle is pulling down on Small's head to control his posture. Small might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Wrassle working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Small. Wrassle seems keen to control Small's posture. Small postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Wrassle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Small content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Small lands a couple of elbows. That's one minute gone in the round. Small working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Wrassle preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Wrassle wants to sweep but no luck. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Small postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Small lands a couple of decent looking shots. Small postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Wrassle pulls Small in close to his closed guard and prevents Small from doing any damage or advancing position. Small landing with the ground and pound. Small is working Wrassle over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Small loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wrassle is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Small landing with the ground and pound. Small stopping the sweep attempt from Wrassle. Small chips away with some ground and pound. Wrassle keeping full guard, as Small tries to pass. Small with a flurry of punches that miss. Wrassle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Small missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Small stopping the sweep attempt from Wrassle. Small is working Wrassle over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wrassle lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Small! Wrassle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Small. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Small wants to control but Wrassle is having none of it. Small has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wrassle controlling the pace for now. Wrassle putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Wrassle connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Wrassle breaks from Small's wrist control and lands an elbow. This has been an exciting period of action! Small is bucking up trying to escape but Wrassle cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Wrassle in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Small bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Small with a flurry of punches that miss. Small loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wrassle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Small is one step ahead there. Small lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Small won't allow Wrassle to sweep him here. Small connects with a couple of short punches. Small throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wrassle works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Small throws a big elbow that misses. Wrassle is trying to keep Small in close.
Small is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Small cracks Wrassle with a solid left hand.
It looks like Joe Wrassle has been cut. Small cracks Wrassle with a solid left hand. Small is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Small throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Wrassle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Small is one step ahead there. Small distracts Wrassle with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mr Small dominated that round. The cut man is working on Joe Wrassle's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Small dives in and grabs Wrassle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wrassle pushes down on Small's head and hops out. Wrassle closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Small gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Wrassle throwing shots but Small is blocking nicely. Mr Small overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Small moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Small controls Wrassle momentarily but Wrassle frees himself. Small is pulling down on Wrassle's head. It's preventing any offense from Wrassle, at least for the moment. Wrassle throws a big elbow that misses. Small is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Wrassle stopping the sweep attempt from Small. Wrassle makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Small manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Joe Wrassle's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Mr Small! Mr Small retains his light heavyweight title!
