Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hubert Hughs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lee Christmas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hubert Hughs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lee Christmas!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christmas ducks under a wild hook from Hughs.

Hughs decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hughs sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Christmas tries to roll over but Hughs keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Christmas wants to control but Hughs is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hughs controlling the action here.
Christmas won't allow Hughs to pass to mount.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Christmas closes the distance and clinches.
Hughs's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Christmas manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Hughs is trying to stall.
Christmas is looking to break free of the clinch but Hughs has double underhooks.
Christmas is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Christmas stalling in the clinch but Hughs improves position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Christmas tries to pull guard but Hughs won't allow it.

Christmas breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Hughs misses with a leg kick
and Christmas counters with a head kick.

Hughs shoots in and bounces Christmas off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Hughs slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Hughs distracts Christmas with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Christmas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hughs. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hughs is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Christmas is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Christmas has escaped and now he's on top!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hughs looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Hughs is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Christmas wants to get back to full guard but Hughs has passed into side control.
Hughs controlling the position.
Christmas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hughs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Hughs has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Christmas!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hubert Hughs dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Christmas breaks the clinch.

Hughs closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Christmas did well to prevent Hughs getting side control.
Hughs seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hughs looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Christmas on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Hughs seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.


Christmas is rocked!
Hughs working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Christmas is still in real trouble! Can Hughs finish him?
Hughs works his way into side control.
Hubert Hughs overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughs advances to full mount.
Hughs loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Christmas scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Hughs land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Hughs stands and salutes the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hubert Hughs!
A relieved looking Hubert Hughs thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
