Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Scott Hammerston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Halaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Halaki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Halaki lands in his opponent's guard. Hammerston can't keep his opponent in guard - Halaki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Halaki not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hammerston is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Halaki not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Halaki wants to control but Hammerston is keeping him busy. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Hammerston gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Halaki lands a jab to the nose. Halaki feints and as Hammerston raises his hands in defense, Halaki changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Halaki wants to control from the top but Hammerston keeps moving. Halaki postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Hammerston is in big trouble! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Hammerston wants to lay and pray for a moment but Halaki keeps working. Hammerston looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Halaki is wriggling around trying to escape.
Halaki is squirming around, avoiding Hammerston's attempts to control the action. Halaki throwing hammer fists to the chest of Hammerston. What's that going to do exactly? Halaki tries to reverse the position but Hammerston maintains control. Halaki tries to control the position but Hammerston now has his back.

Rob Halaki dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Halaki looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Halaki is taking a breather. Hammerston says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Halaki thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hammerston's head. Hammerston manages to get to full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Halaki trying to control but Hammerston is working from the bottom. Halaki postures up in Hammerston's guard and throws a big left but Hammerston blocks it. Hammerston is looking for a triangle but Halaki pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Halaki missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hammerston keeping moving, preventing Halaki from controlling successfully. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Halaki accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Hammerston staying out of range there. Hammerston loads up on a big right hand but Halaki slips the punch. Hammerston throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Halaki misses with a body shot.

Halaki fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Halaki shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hammerston's guard. Halaki working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Halaki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hammerston swivels though and keeps the full guard. Halaki throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Halaki throws a strike but Hammerston rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Hammerston drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Halaki dives on top into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Halaki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Hammerston can't keep his opponent in guard - Halaki advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Halaki throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Halaki wants to take a breather but Hammerston is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rob Halaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Hammerston misses with a low kick. Hammerston throws a solid leg kick but Halaki takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hammerston. Halaki throws a head kick but Hammerston moves out of range.
Hammerston tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. The fight stays on the outside here - Hammerston looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Hammerston shoots and misses and Halaki counters with a single leg into guard. Hammerston didn't expect that. Halaki seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Hammerston avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hammerston avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Halaki lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Halaki might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hammerston kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hammerston tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Halaki is looking to work some ground and pound but Hammerston has wrist control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Hammerston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Halaki has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Hammerston is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Halaki. Halaki is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Hammerston off and has taken his back! Hammerston has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Halaki. Even with his hooks in, Halaki manages to miss with strikes from the back. And that's the end of the fight! Rob Halaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Halaki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
