Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Campos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steven Leno! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leno looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Leno stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Campos. Campos lands with a straight right. Leno didn't see that one coming.
It looks like Steven Leno has been cut. Leno takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Leno is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
This has been an exciting period of action! Nice shot lands for Campos. Campos lands a lovely overhand right. Leno walks into a stiff left hand from Campos. Campos ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Leno takes one on the button. A chopping leg kick lands by Campos. Campos lands an overhand right.
That's one minute gone in the round. Campos thuds a left hand into Leno's body. Leno moves forwards but Campos connects with a nice, crisp jab. Daniel Campos is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Campos lands a glancing blow to the side of Leno's head. Campos buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Leno shoots for a double leg takedown but Campos sprawls well. He's pushed Leno's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Campos is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. Leno looks gassed! Leno takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Campos bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Campos throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Campos moves into range and connects with a jab. Leno on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Campos scores with a jab to the body. Campos cracks the inside of Leno's front leg. Daniel Campos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Campos closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Campos softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Campos comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Campos pushes Leno back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Leno is rocked!
That has opened up Steven Leno's cut even more. Campos lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Leno to his knees! Campos keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Campos!
