PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hoku Kahaunaele (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Lanastar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Hoku Kahaunaele!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jamie Lanastar!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Colin Fray and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lanastar clobbers Kahaunaele with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Lanastar connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Kahaunaele shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lanastar napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The referee asks Kahaunaele politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kahaunaele prefers to stall for the moment though.
You can see the frustration on Lanastar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
A lull in the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lanastar is trying to improve his position.
Kahaunaele trying to control the position but Lanastar is working away.
Kahaunaele advances to mount.
Kahaunaele controlling the pace for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lanastar is working to get back to half guard.
Kahaunaele takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kahaunaele stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Lanastar bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Kahaunaele has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lanastar finds it's way round the side to connect with Kahaunaele's head.


It looks like Hoku Kahaunaele has been cut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lanastar works Kahaunaele's body with a nice hook.

Lanastar moves into range and clinches up with Kahaunaele.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lanastar lands a nice uppercut.
Kahaunaele is trying to break free.
Kahaunaele is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Lanastar is defending well.
Lanastar digs a right hand underneath Kahaunaele's ribcage. Kahaunaele let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Kahaunaele is breathing heavily.
Kahaunaele wants to get back to striking at distance but Lanastar won't allow it.

Lanastar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lanastar lands a jab-cross combination.


Kahaunaele is rocked!
Lanastar lands with a right and another and another! Kahaunaele is in big trouble! Lanastar lands again and this time it's lights out for Kahaunaele! A quality knockout there for Lanastar.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jamie Lanastar!
