Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jon Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Beltran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Beltran has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Randy Beltran! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson shoots in for a takedown but Beltran shows good takedown defense. Johnson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Beltran looks gassed! Johnson throws a head kick that Beltran semi-blocks.
Beltran waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Johnson. Beltran forces Johnson back against the cage and clinches. Johnson breaks from the clinch.
Beltran tries to clinch but Johnson moves out of range. Beltran takes the fight into the clinch. Beltran stalling the fight.
Beltran is trying to maintain a safe position but Johnson gets an underhook and turns Beltran into the cage. Johnson is trying to drag Beltran to the mat but Beltran just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Johnson has Beltran pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Johnson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Beltran tumbling to the mat - Johnson dives into Beltran's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Beltran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Beltran can do anything to dispel that myth. Beltran looking to hit a scissor sweep but Johnson is one step ahead there. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Johnson's corner. There ya go! That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Beltran is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Beltran manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Beltran's guard. Johnson wants to control from the top but Beltran keeps moving. Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Beltran, up you get! Johnson throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Beltran. Johnson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Beltran, pushing him back against the cage. Johnson stalling in the clinch but Beltran improves position. Johnson can't break the clinch.

Johnson is trying to pull guard but Beltran turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Johnson tries to score a body lock takedown but Beltran shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Johnson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Beltran is pressed up against the cage. Johnson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Beltran down to the mat. Beltran avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Beltran fails in his attempt to clinch. Johnson tried to score with a low kick but Beltran checks it. Johnson throws a right hand that Beltran ducks under and follows up with a left that Beltran also avoids with ease. Beltran looks to land a right hand but Johnson moved out of range. Johnson swings for the body but Beltran moves out of range.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. No luck for Johnson with that takedown attempt. Jon Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson moves into the clinch successfully.

Beltran thows a body shot but no joy. Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Beltran sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Johnson here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Johnson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Beltran, pushing him back against the cage. Beltran is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Johnson drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Beltran has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Johnson instigates a clinch. Johnson misses with a punch on the inside.

Johnson controls Beltran momentarily but Beltran frees himself. Beltran must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Beltran sitting in guard here, content to control.

Beltran slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
