Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas Severn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rostam Samani (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bas Severn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rostam Samani!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Daniel Franklin and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severn takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Samani moves out of range of the body kick from Severn.
Severn on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Samani fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Severn has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Severn throws a sloppy head kick and Samani moves out of range easily.
Samani scores with a head kick. Severn tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.


It looks like Bas Severn has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Severn throws a body kick that misses
and Samani counters with a low kick, right behind Severn 's knee.
Samani checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Samani bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Severn's head backwards.

Samani drives through with a takedown into guard.
Severn wants to stand but Samani is controlling the position.
Severn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Samani in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Samani trying to control the position from guard on top but Severn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Severn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Samani throws a strike but Severn rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Severn being controlled here momentarily.

Samani is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Severn defends well.
Samani seems keen to control Severn's posture.

Severn throws an elbow that misses. Samani uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Severn's guard. Nice move by Samani!
Samani throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Samani tries to free his leg and advance position but Severn is retaining full guard.
Severn has momentary wrist control but Samani slips an elbow through the middle.
Severn keeping moving, preventing Samani from controlling successfully.
Samani loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Severn working a defensive guard but Samani manages to pass into side control anyway.

Samani trying to control the position but Severn is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Samani creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Severn tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Samani wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Samani content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Samani with the ground and pound but Severn regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Samani looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Severn with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Severn wants to get back to his feet.
Severn tries to roll over but Samani keeps him under control.
Samani is taking a breather. Severn says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Samani missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Samani controlling the pace.
Samani thows a huge punch but Severn dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Severn misses with an attempted mid kick.
Severn thows a leg kick but Samani checks it
and Samani counters with a slapping leg kick.
Severn scores with a kick to the body.

and Samani connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Samani checks a leg kick nicely.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rostam Samani seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Severn chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Samani can pounce on him.
Severn throws an overhand right that lands on Samani's shoulder, as Samani tries to avoid the shot.
Samani catches Severn with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Samani uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Severn turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Samani lands with a thumping leg kick.
Severn connects with a body shot that sends Samani's belly button to the back.
Severn chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Samani drops his hands momentarily and Severn takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Samani fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Severn.

Severn lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Samani backwards.

Severn tries to stall but Samani uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Severn throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Samani blocks it with crossed arms.
Samani blocks an uppercut.
Severn looking to throw knees to the head but Samani is blocking nicely.

Severn pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Severn is working for takedown but Samani is calmly controlling the position for now.
Samani lands a shoulder strike.
Severn is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Samani throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Samani works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Severn utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.

Severn pushes off an throws an elbow but Samani leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Severn tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Samani's elbow.

Samani is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Severn is keeping busy.
Samani lands a right hand that snaps the head of Severn backwards.
Severn misses with a punch on the inside.
Severn has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Samani after a bit of a struggle.
Samani struggles to land a body shot inside as Severn controls his hands.
Severn drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Samani gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bas Severn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Severn's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

An uppercut to the body lands inside from Samani.

Severn wants to take the fight to the mat but Samani manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Severn misses with a hook to the ribs.
Severn tries to work over Samani's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Samani has Severn pushed against the cage.
Samani tries to land a knee to the head but Severn blocks with his arms.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Severn throws a head punch that misses.
Severn is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rostam Samani showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Severn throws a low kick, looking for Samani's leg but Samani calmly moves out of range.
Samani connects with a solid leg kick.
Severn pushes Samani away with a front kick.
Samani avoids the body shot from Severn.
Samani works Severn's body with a nice hook.
Severn takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Severn throws a low kick, looking for Samani's leg but Samani calmly moves out of range.
Severn works the jab nicely.
Severn throws the left hand but Samani avoids the punch easily.
Samani slips a jab from Severn.
Samani thuds a left hand into Severn's body.
Samani uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Severn has time to react.
Samani moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Severn takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Severn blocks a head kick by Samani.
Samani pushes Severn away with a front kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Samani thuds his right hand into Severn's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Nice body kick there by Samani.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Samani, right into the meat.
Severn takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Samani scores with a decent looking hook.
Samani thows a body kick. Severn tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Samani lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Samani.
Samani is looking to slow Severn down with leg kicks.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Samani connects with a body shot that sends Severn's belly button to the back.
Samani has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Severn takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Bas Severn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oh Severn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Samani comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Samani throws a quick inside leg kick.
Samani lands with a shot to the body.
Severn takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Samani scoring well with a low kick there.
Samani lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Severn - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Samani!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rostam Samani!
Rostam Samani really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that XTREME PWNAGE: Down Under! logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
