PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry Poppins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poppins comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mama Said Knock You Out kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregory Bell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harry Poppins!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poppins wants to clinch.
Bell scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


It looks like Harry Poppins has been cut.
Poppins tries to close the distance and clinch but Bell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Poppins has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Bell is working away from the top position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Bell misses with a hook. Poppins ducked under it nicely.
Bell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Poppins tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bell paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bell uses his free foot to push down on Poppins's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Poppins.
Bell throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Poppins tries to stand but Bell is controlling from the bottom.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bell is on top in guard.

Poppins unloads a knee to the mid-section. Bell lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Poppins walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Bell tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bell has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bell has hold of Poppins's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Poppins tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Bell cranks the arm and Poppins screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Poppins, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
