Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Goss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Babcock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goss comes to the cage accompanied by Xerath: God of the Front Lines. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joseph Goss! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Babcock! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Babcock misses with a hook. Goss doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Babcock defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Goss. Goss throws a sloppy head kick and Babcock moves out of range easily. Goss tries to close the distance and clinch but Babcock swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Goss slips under a jab from Babcock. Goss tries for a takedown but Babcock circles away easily letting Babcock counter with a right hand. Goss throws a head kick that misses. Goss throws a sloppy head kick and Babcock moves out of range easily. Babcock lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Goss closes the distance but Babcock moves to the side and Babcock cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Joseph Goss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Goss tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Babcock counters with a stiff right hand. Babcock checks a leg kick. Goss wants to clinch. Babcock moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goss closes the distance looking to clinch and Babcock counters with a nice body shot. Babcock's corner calls for a 1-2. Babcock obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Goss scores with a leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Goss gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Goss lands a right hand that snaps the head of Babcock backwards. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Babcock blocks a couple of punches on the inside.

Babcock breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Goss tries to clinch there but Babcock circles away.
Goss moves forwards but Babcock connects with a nice, crisp jab. Babcock throws an overhand right that lands on Goss's shoulder, as Goss tries to avoid the shot. Babcock punishes Goss's body with a nice straight punch. Babcock throws a leg kick but Goss sees it coming and moves out of range. Goss pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Good exchange - Babcock coming out on top.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Babcock shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Goss napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Goss sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Babcock passes to full mount! Goss is in a horrible position here. Babcock smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Babcock lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Babcock landing strikes from the mount and Goss is in trouble! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Goss is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes. Babcock with shots to the head and body - Goss looks very uncomfortable down there. Babcock swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Goss is now in Babcock's guard. A big mistake from Babcock there, giving up the dominant position! Goss preventing the sweep. Babcock has his foot on Goss's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Goss works his way back into a safe position though. Goss throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Babcock works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Babcock is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Babcock has his foot on Goss's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Goss works his way back into a safe position though. Goss postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Babcock manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Goss is desperately trying to improve his position but Babcock has a good base and remains in mount. Babcock is landing with some decent strikes but Goss is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Babcock wants to control the pace but Goss is squirming around nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Goss is in all sorts of trouble here.
Babcock landing strikes, looking to finish! Babcock is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Goss can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Goss tries to move into range but Babcock moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Goss with a poor takedown and Babcock cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Goss gets in close and instigates a clinch. Goss misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Babcock.

Babcock with good strikes from the mount here! Goss is looking to improve his position but Babcock isn't that keen on the idea. Babcock lands a big shot there that rocks Goss but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Babcock wants to control the pace but Goss is squirming around nicely. Babcock is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Babcock has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Babcock landing punches. Goss is trying desperately to improve position. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Babcock pushes past his half guard into mount! Goss is desperately trying to improve his position but Babcock has a good base and remains in mount. Goss wants to try and get back to his feet. Babcock tries to control but Goss wriggling away. Goss is looking to improve his position but Babcock isn't that keen on the idea. Goss is bucking up trying to escape but Babcock cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Babcock looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Goss seems to have got his legs back now. Babcock scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Goss bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Babcock avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Babcock looking for a triangle here. Goss is fighting it but it looks tight! Babcock pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Goss is tapping out - this one is all over!

Our winner, Bruce Babcock, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
