Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Maciej Gajwer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Roronoa Zorro!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gajwer lands a nice shot to the body.
Gajwer pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gajwer has closed the distance and engaged Zorro in a clinch.
Gajwer turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Zorro is trying to buck Gajwer off.
Gajwer moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Gajwer stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Zorro moves in looking to clinch but Gajwer pushes him off.
Gajwer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Zorro counters with a head kick.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gajwer shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Zorro looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round.
Zorro tries to roll over but Gajwer keeps him under control.
Gajwer moves into full mount! Zorro won't be happy about that!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BOOM! Gajwer connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Zorro really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Gajwer working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Zorro turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gajwer off and cradles Zorro's limp body as Gajwer celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Maciej Gajwer!
