Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Layne Fields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Alan Young!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Layne Fields!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Micheangelo Fripello and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Young lands a high kick!
Young closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Young tries to land a front kick but Fields steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Young tries to clinch up but Fields circles away and keeps his distance.

Fields drives through and clinches with Young against the cage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Young fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Fields checks it well.

Young rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fields moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Fields using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Young has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Young's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Young takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Young ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Fields moves away.

Fields has managed to clinch.
Fields blocking some punches.
Young looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
The referee is keeping an eye on Fields - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Fields lands a nice uppercut.

Fields tries to land knees in the clinch but Young avoids the damage to the body.
Fields lands an elbow inside that Young shrugs off.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Young takes a knee to the side of the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fields looking to throw knees to the head but Young is blocking nicely.

Fields continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fields cracks Young with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Young misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Alan Young is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Look low, kick high! Fields uses the oldest trick in the book to send Young tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Fields is absolutely delighted - when Young wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!
