Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Maciej Niemierski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kevin Gracie! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Niemierski swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Niemierski sprawls well. Niemierski wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet. Gracie swats away the attempt to clinch by Niemierski. Niemierski closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Gracie holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Gracie throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Niemierski is working for a kimura but Gracie is defending it quite comfortably.

Niemierski drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gracie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Niemierski has Gracie in his guard. Niemierski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Maciej Niemierski overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gracie wants to pass the guard but Niemierski is keeping the position.

Gracie bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Niemierski's guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Niemierski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gracie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Niemierski is trying to keep Gracie in close.
