PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alan Corke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Macon Ghosthood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alan Corke has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alan Corke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Macon Ghosthood!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ghosthood pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Corke looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Ghosthood throws a head kick that misses.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ghosthood.
Corke shoots in looking for a takedown. Ghosthood tries to sprawl out of it but Corke keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ghosthood manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Corke gets tackled into the cage by Ghosthood. Ghosthood maintains the clinch.

Ghosthood escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Ghosthood closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Corke to the mat! Corke manages to get full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Corke can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ghosthood controls the pace.
Ghosthood stands and throws Corke's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Ghosthood decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Ghosthood closes the distance and pushes Corke back into the cage.

Ghosthood is looking to stand up but Corke isn't so interested in that idea.

Ghosthood has his foot on Corke's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Corke works his way back into a safe position though.

Ghosthood stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Corke throws a right and a left that Ghosthood avoids nicely.
Ghosthood lands with a nice combination. Corke backs away looking to recover.
Ghosthood tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Corke paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ghosthood throws a low kick, looking for Corke's leg but Corke calmly moves out of range.
Ghosthood doesn't manage to clinch there - Corke circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ghosthood closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Corke's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Corke is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Corke's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Ghosthood shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Ghosthood is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ghosthood wants to pass the guard but Corke is keeping the position.
Corke wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Ghosthood is now in half guard.

Corke is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ghosthood pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ghosthood in particular looking to stall.
Corke wants to get back to full guard but Ghosthood has mounted him!
Ghosthood manages to capitalize on a mistake by Corke to take his back!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Let's hope that Ghosthood has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Corke blocks a head kick by Ghosthood.
Ghosthood throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Corke shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ghosthood defends it nicely.

Ghosthood moves nicely into side control.
Corke is trying to control Ghosthood's posture but Ghosthood avoids it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Ghosthood is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Macon Ghosthood has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ghosthood has Corke pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Ghosthood pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Corke tumbling to the mat - Ghosthood dives into Corke's guard.

Ghosthood throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Corke's waist but Corke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ghosthood off to one side.

Ghosthood leaves Corke with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Corke gets caught flat footed, as Ghosthood shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Alan Corke has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ghosthood has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Corke is proving hard to escape from.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ghosthood thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Corke looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Ghosthood has picked Corke up and slammed him! Corke can't keep hold of the triangle and Ghosthood manages to pass to side control!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Macon Ghosthood is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Macon Ghosthood comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ghosthood has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
