Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luigi Fry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kazushi Sakuraba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kazushi Sakuraba is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Luigi Fry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazushi Sakuraba!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fry has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Fry misses with a hook.
Sakuraba lands the left hand.
Fry takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Sakuraba scores with a decent looking hook.
Fry misses with a takedown attempt - Sakuraba sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A combination from Sakuraba does no damage.
Sakuraba misses with the combination.
Sakuraba slaps away a takedown attempt from Fry, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Fry looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Fry shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fry showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Sakuraba is looking for a sweep. Fry is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sakuraba is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Fry tries to roll over but Sakuraba keeps him under control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sakuraba is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Fry sees it coming and defends easily.

Fry tries to get to full guard but Sakuraba has control of the leg.

Sakuraba is trying to work for a kimura but Fry is defending well.
Fry controlling the position for now.
Sakuraba thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fry's head.
Sakuraba is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Fry is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Sakuraba is aware though and is defending well.
Sakuraba forces his way into half guard.
Fry is looking for a sweep. Sakuraba is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Sakuraba tries to pass to full mount but Fry defends it.
Fry is doing well to control the position and prevent Sakuraba from advancing to side control.
Fry is trying to maintain the position but Sakuraba is very close to passing his half guard.

Sakuraba is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Sakuraba bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Fry's head.
Sakuraba keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Sakuraba counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sakuraba scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sakuraba lands with an uppercut that bounces Fry off the cage and back into range.

Fry dives in and grabs Sakuraba's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sakuraba pushes down on Fry's head and hops out.

Fry throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sakuraba's waist but Sakuraba gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Fry off to one side.
Sakuraba will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Fry looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sakuraba is fending him off so far but Fry persists. Nope, Sakuraba circles away and we're back to standing.

Sakuraba thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Fry if he has to take too many more of those.

Fry shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sakuraba pinned against the cage. Sakuraba gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Fry tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sakuraba swivels and escapes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fry tries to score a power double leg takedown but Sakuraba sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fry somewhat.

Kazushi Sakuraba showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sakuraba, as that shot connected.
Kazushi Sakuraba is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Fry throws a hook but Sakuraba avoids it easily.
Fry throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sakuraba swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Fry looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Sakuraba connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Sakuraba displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fry.
Fry takes a body punch but keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sakuraba fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sakuraba has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Sakuraba throws a head kick but Fry moves out of range.
Fry has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sakuraba finds it's way round the side to connect with Fry's head.
Sakuraba will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sakuraba jabs at Fry's body.
Sakuraba tries to bum rush Fry with a series of wild strikes but Fry uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fry shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sakuraba sprawls well. Sakuraba wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fry gets slowly back to his feet.

Fry looking to score a takedown here. Sakuraba is defending well but Fry drives through and ends up in Sakuraba's guard.

Fry got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sakuraba has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fry has managed to get both his arms back between Sakuraba's legs - danger averted.

Kazushi Sakuraba comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sakuraba has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
