Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slim swings away with a body shot that misses
and Machida counters with a good low kick that Slim was not able to check.
Machida throws a sloppy head kick and Slim moves out of range easily.
Machida lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Barbados Slim has been cut.
Machida defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Slim.
Machida pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Slim misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Machida throws a right hand that Slim ducks under and follows up with a left that Slim also avoids with ease.
Machida swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Machida misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Machida ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Slim moves away.

Lyoto Machida is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Slim shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Machida as he jumps to the side.
Slim lands with a straight right. Machida didn't see that one coming.
Machida ducks under a wild hook from Slim.

Machida feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Slims jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Slim works Machida's body with a nice hook.
Slim dives in and scores a takedown into Machida's guard.
Slim not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Machida is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A punch lands to the side of Slim 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Slim feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Machidas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Machida bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Slim steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Machida. That one must have hurt.

A nice combination there by Machida.

and Slim cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Lyoto Machida is winning the standup battle so far.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Slim fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lyoto Machida has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barbados Slim.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Slim is defended easily by Machida.

Machida misses with a combination
and Slim counters with a shoot takedown. Machida fights it but they end up in guard.
Slim postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Machida is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Slim, into his guard.
Machida slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Machida gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Machida throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Slim uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Machida.
Machida misses with a two punch combination.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Machida lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Slim has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Slim and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Machida lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Slim changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Machida looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Slim slows the pace down.
Slim wants to lay and pray for a moment but Machida keeps working.
Machida wants to control but Slim postures up.
Slim trying to control the action but Machida is working from the bottom.
Machida gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Slim lands strikes from half guard.
And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Barbados Slim.
I think Slim has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Lyoto Machida was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
