Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roger Veien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gat Yaupoc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Veien comes into the arena with Redneck, Lamb of God blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gat Yaupoc!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Veien tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Yaupoc manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Yaupoc lands a jab to the head.
Yaupoc with a hook.

Yaupoc has taken the fight to the clinch.
Veien blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Veien wants to take the fight to the mat but Yaupoc manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Veien looking to slow down the pace here.
Yaupoc wants to get back to striking at distance but Veien won't allow it.

Veien's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Yaupoc rushes Veien and presses him up against the cage.
Veien tries to pull guard but Yaupoc holds him up against the cage and eventually Veien drops back down to his feet.
Yaupoc tries to circle away but Veien has him pinned against the cage.
Veien tries to pull guard but Yaupoc won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Veien. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Veien is trying to pull guard but Yaupoc has him pressed against the cage.
Veien has Yaupoc pressed against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Yaupoc wants to break the clinch but can't.
Veien prevents Yaupoc from breaking the clinch.
Veien tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Yaupoc just stands there and leans against the cage.
Veien crunches a lovely knee into Yaupoc's ribcage.
Yaupoc can't break the clinch.

Yaupoc breaks from the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Veien.
Veien takes a jab right on the kisser.
Yaupoc throws a good cross that connects.
Yaupoc circles away from the clinch attempt.

Yaupoc closes the distance and pushes Veien back into the cage.
Yaupoc is pushing Veien up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Veien pulls guard.
Veien keeping moving, preventing Yaupoc from controlling successfully.
Yaupoc looking to sit in guard and control but Veien gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yaupoc can do anything to dispel that myth.
Yaupoc is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Veien scoring with punches to the head and body.
Veien sitting in guard here, content to control.

Veien trying to control the position from guard on top but Yaupoc is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yaupoc is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Veien passes into half guard.

Veien is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Veien not landing any meaningful shots this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Veien stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Yaupoc takes the fight into the clinch.
Yaupoc throws a punch but it's blocked by Veien.

Veien manages to pull guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Yaupoc trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Veien is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Yaupoc has his hands clasped together but Veien extends an breaks Yaupoc's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Veien.
