Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zafilu Gamusi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stephen Poirier!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gamusi looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Poirier uses the cage to get back to his feet.

Poirier has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Poirier takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Poirier feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Poirier gets control of Gamusi's arms and successfully pulls guard. Poirier will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gamusi's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Poirier is on top in guard.
Gamusi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gamusi tries to get out of the position.
Gamusi can't keep his opponent in guard - Poirier advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gamusi wants to control but Poirier is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Poirier moves into full mount! Gamusi won't be happy about that!
Gamusi is trying desperately to improve position.

Poirier has control of Gamusi's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Gamusi regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Poirier is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gamusi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Poirier working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Gamusi is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Poirier has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Gamusi taps out!
