Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kimura's entrance music is can't be touched. A fine choice. The key to victory for Joe Kimura has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kimura throws a big shot that misses.
A jab from Kimura finds it's way through Mir's defenses.
Kimura looks to throw the jab but Mir is out of range.
Kimura throws a lazy right hand but Mir sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Mir swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Kimura dodges the punch combination from Mir.

Mir shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mir showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mir frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mir looking to control but Kimura is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Mir is working for a guillotine from mount but Kimura frees his head quite easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mir has control of Kimura's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kimura regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Kimura is looking to improve his position but Mir isn't that keen on the idea.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Even with his hooks in, Mir manages to miss with strikes from the back.

Mir looking to break Kimura's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Kimura remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Mir will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Mir uses his free foot to push down on Kimura's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Kimura.

Mir is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kimura is defending well though. Mir let's go of the attempt for now.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mir might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kimura kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Frank Mir showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Mir uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kimura.
Kimura swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Mir takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Mir in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Kimura is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Frank Mir!
After winning the bout, Frank Mir thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
