PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Daniels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jun Kawasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawasaki has chosen Linkin Park - Bleed It Out as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Daniels!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jun Kawasaki!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Daniels tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Kawasaki manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jun Kawasaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kawasaki connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Kawasaki tries to clinch but Daniels moves out of range.
Kawasaki attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Kawasaki checks a leg kick nicely.
Daniels throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kawasaki misses with a hook to the body
letting Daniels counter with a right hand.
Daniels is looking to clinch but Kawasaki is avoiding it.

Daniels throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kawasaki.

Daniels darts in and clinches Kawasaki up against the cage.
Daniels struggles to land a body shot inside as Kawasaki controls his hands.

Daniels turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Daniels manages to end up in side control.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Kawasaki tries to buck Daniels off but Daniels is having none of it.
Kawasaki struggling a bit here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Daniels decides to stand back up. Daniels steps back and let's Kawasaki get back to his feet.
Kawasaki throws a jab but it's blocked by Daniels.
Kawasaki pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Daniels keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kawasaki looks for the body kick but Daniels saw that one coming.
Kawasaki dives in and grabs Daniels's left leg, looking for a takedown. Daniels pushes down on Kawasaki's head and hops out.
Daniels fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kawasaki staying out of range there.
Kawasaki shoots and misses

and Daniels holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Jack Daniels has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jun Kawasaki.
Kawasaki struggles to land a body shot inside as Daniels controls his hands.
Kawasaki takes a shot to the head.
Daniels lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Kawasaki with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Daniels misses with a short punch on the inside.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Daniels throws an elbow but it misses.
Kawasaki landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Daniels drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Kawasaki gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Daniels misses with a hook to the ribs.
Kawasaki avoiding damage.
Kawasaki tries to stall but Daniels uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Kawasaki prevents a body shot from Daniels.
Kawasaki tries a knee to the head but Daniels blocks it.
Daniels avoiding damage as Kawasaki throws knees to the body.

Daniels is trying to trip Kawasaki. He has hold of a leg but Kawasaki is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Daniels persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Daniels has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kawasaki to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Daniels is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kawasaki pulls down on the head and he's put Daniels to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jun Kawasaki!
An out of breath and clearly excited Jun Kawasaki thanked Torment Fightwear for their help and support (and free stuff they sent him).
