Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chase Rollins! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George St pierre! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rollins shoots in for a takedown but St pierre shows good takedown defense. Rollins tries for a takedown but St pierre sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. St pierre misses with a double jab.
Rollins dives in and grabs St pierre's left leg, looking for a takedown. St pierre pushes down on Rollins's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Rollins. That's going to take a lot out of him. St pierre swinging wildly here.
St pierre throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rollins's waist but Rollins gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing St pierre off to one side. St pierre ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rollins moves away. St pierre misses with a double jab.

St pierre is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Rollins's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Rollins's back! Rollins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. St pierre doesn't have the hooks in and Rollins manages to turn into his guard.
St pierre is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rollins is aware though and is defending well. St pierre lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rollins! St pierre goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Rollins is on top in guard.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Rollins lands a big shot there that rocks St pierre but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

St pierre changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rollins tries to avoid it but St pierre manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rollins to the ground. Rollins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Rollins is defended easily by St pierre. Rollins closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Rollins is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round. St pierre throws a combination that misses and Rollins counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. St pierre fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rollins sprawls well initially but St pierre persists and gets the takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. St pierre tries to pass to full mount but Rollins defends it. Rollins avoiding damage under a succession of punches from St pierre. St pierre is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
St pierre takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Rollins moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. St pierre must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rollins trying to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. St pierre decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. George St pierre is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rollins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. St pierre tries to avoid it but Rollins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag St pierre to the ground.
