Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Genius Ree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarrod Marinac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jarrod Marinac has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Genius Ree! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jarrod Marinac! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ree shoots for a double leg takedown but Marinac sprawls well. He's pushed Ree's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Marinac fails with the takedown. Genius Ree seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Marinac misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Marinac shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Marinac was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Marinac controlling the position easily from mount. Ree tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marinac controlling the position easily from mount. That's one minute gone in the round. Marinac passes into side control, despite Ree's attempt to control the position.
Marinac decides to stand up, so the ref orders Ree to his feet. Ree instigates a clinch. Marinac is defending well against a takedown attempt. Marinac jumps into guard, dragging Ree to the mat.
Marinac is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ree is aware though and is defending well. Marinac escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ree gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Marinac looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Marinac looks gassed! Ree engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Marinac keeping moving, preventing Ree from controlling successfully. Marinac preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Marinac preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marinac is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ree defends well. Ree trying to control the position from guard on top but Marinac is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ree is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Marinac is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Ree stands up from Marinac's guard - Ree perhaps looking for a knockout. Marinac moves into the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ree breaks the clinch.
Ree tries to close the distance and clinch but Marinac swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Marinac on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Marinac stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Ree. Marinac is trying hard to land a takedown here. Ree sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Genius Ree has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jarrod Marinac. A good leg kick by Ree. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ree tries to clinch but Marinac is having none of it. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ree. Ree passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Marinac! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ree lands a nice shot to the head. Ree is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Marinac to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Marinac shrugs it off. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Genius Ree dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
No luck for Marinac with that takedown attempt. Ree pushes Marinac up against the cage in a clinch. Ree breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ree tries to close the distance and clinch but Marinac swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ree tries to keep at a distance but Marinac has taken the fight into the clinch. Marinac tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Ree just stands there and leans against the cage. Ree wants a takedown but no success here.
Marinac is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Marinac tries for a takedown. No joy.
Genius Ree has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jarrod Marinac. Marinac goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ree prevents it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Marinac tries to pull guard but Ree holds him up against the cage and eventually Marinac drops back down to his feet.
Marinac is breathing heavily. Ree pulls guard. Ree manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Marinac takes a little break here. Ree wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ree is trying to control Marinac's posture but Marinac avoids it. Marinac trying to control the position but Ree is working away. Ree is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Marinac off and has taken his back! Marinac wants to control his opponent's hands but Ree gets his hands free.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Marinac is keeping busy.

Ree looking for the RNC. Marinac manages to reverse the position and now he's in Ree's guard. Nice work there by Marinac.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Marinac slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Marinac decides to stand back up. Ree will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Marinac closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Marinac tries to score a body lock takedown but Ree shows good agility there to stay on his feet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Marinac tries for a takedown. No joy.
A frustrated look appears on Marinac's face as he tries to break the clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ree breaks from the clinch.
Ree stuns Marinac with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Ree shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Marinac manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Genius Ree will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Ree tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Marinac fails to land the takedown. Ree has a takedown stuffed. Marinac shoots in looking for a takedown but Ree manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Marinac's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Marinac keeps the fight on the outside. Ree fails in his attempt to clinch. Marinac avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Ree shoots in but Marinac avoids the takedown attempt easily. Marinac shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ree's guard. Ree avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Marinac trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Marinac sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ree's guard. Marinac not doing much here.

Marinac is pressing down on Ree's thigh, looking to free his foot. Ree is holding on for now. Marinac blocks the strikes from Ree.
Ree is staying active underneath Marinac, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ree is pressing down on Marinac's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Ree wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Ree wants to stand up but Marinac is controlling him. Ree is trying to control the position but Marinac postures up. Ree will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Ree kicks Marinac off and gets to his feet. Marinac shoots in for a takedown and gets it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Marinac trying to control from half guard but Ree is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ree works his way to full guard. Good work. Ree is trying to control the position but Marinac postures up. Marinac gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Marinac lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Marinac circles away from the clinch attempt.
Marinac throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ree's waist but Ree gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marinac off to one side. Genius Ree has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jarrod Marinac. Ree takes the fight into the clinch. Marinac is looking for a takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ree pulls guard. Marinac is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Genius Ree is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Marinac trying to control but Ree is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Marinac stays in close to Ree's body and controls the position.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jarrod Marinac. Well Ree has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
