Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zyruz King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mauricio Moura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Zyruz King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mauricio Moura!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Moura decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
King is looking to improve his position.
Moura slows the pace down in half guard.
King is trying to get back to full guard.
Moura thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Moura thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed King's head.
King is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
King wants to control but Moura is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Moura tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Moura content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

King closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Moura can't fight it off and eventually King manages to take the fight to the floor. Moura looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as King accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

King shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Moura keeping hold of King's head, controlling as best he can.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Moura is looking to improve his position.
Moura is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Moura is controlling King's trapped leg to prevent King from advancing to side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mauricio Moura was stalling too much, according to the referee.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
King tries to keep at a distance but Moura has taken the fight into the clinch.

King lands a takedown into guard.

Moura had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. King defends it easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as King accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Moura is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and King defends well.
Moura is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King wants to pass the guard but Moura is keeping the position.
Moura tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Moura swivels though and keeps the full guard.
King trying to control the position from guard on top but Moura is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Zyruz King wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Moura shoots for a takedown but King saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Zyruz King will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


King looks to score with a jab to the body but Moura is just out of range.

Moura closes the distance and clinches.

King has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Moura clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Moura is keeping busy.
King doesn't have the hooks in and Moura manages to turn into his guard.
Moura sitting in guard here, content to control.
Moura throws a big right hand that misses.
King wants to sweep here but Moura controlling him for the moment.
Moura sitting in guard, not really doing much.

King working for a triangle but Moura defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Moura loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Moura stays in close to King's body and controls the position.

King is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Moura is aware though and is defending well.
Moura sitting in guard here, content to control.
Moura must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mauricio Moura was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Moura shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has King pinned against the cage. King gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

King shoots in and bounces Moura off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Moura is controlling King's posture.
Moura is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Moura looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Moura's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Moura really doesn't want to stay on the ground with King. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mauricio Moura.

Moura gets tackled into the cage by King. King maintains the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

King pulls guard effortlessly.
King trying to control the position.
Moura is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
King looking for a sweep. Not yet King, not yet.
Moura is pushing down on King's leg trying to pass to half guard. King is fighting to maintain full guard but Moura has managed to sneak the leg through.
Moura takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mauricio Moura hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Moura fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. King sprawls well initially but Moura persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King wants to get back to full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
King is trying to stand.
Moura content to control rather than advance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Moura changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. King looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mauricio Moura showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



Moura clinches up with King and pushes him back against the cage.
Moura controlling the action here for a moment.
King tries to circle away but Moura has him pinned against the cage.

King has clasped his hands together around Moura's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
King working the ground and pound but Moura is defending the strikes.
Moura is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Moura is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
You can see the frustration on Moura's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

King decides to stand back up. King steps back and let's Moura get back to his feet.
Moura tries to clinch up.

King gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

King decides to pull guard.
Moura controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

King is working an open guard so Moura takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

King clinches up against the cage.
King trying to control the position but instead, Moura has worked for underhooks and has pushed King into the cage.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Moura lands a shoulder strike.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Moura presses King against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Moura as King tries to tie him up.
Moura can't break the clinch.
King is trying to force a seperation but Moura has the dominant position.
Moura has had enough of the clinch but King keeps him there for the moment.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Moura is trying to break the clinch but King has him pressed against the cage.
Moura keeps control of King as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Moura wants to get back to striking at distance but King won't allow it.

King gets control of Moura's arms and successfully pulls guard. King will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Moura throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as King works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Moura gets to his feet. King looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

King closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Moura is trying to stand.
Moura is controlling King's trapped leg to prevent King from advancing to side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Moura kicks King off and gets back to his feet.

Moura moves into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Moura tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
King tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Moura avoids it.

King tightens his grip and picks Moura up, before dumping him to the ground. Moura manages to land in guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Moura scrambles and gets back to his feet.

King has closed the distance and engaged Moura in a clinch.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mauricio Moura.
I think Moura has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
