Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rainbow Bright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jo Jo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jo is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Set You Free. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rainbow Bright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jo Jo!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bright looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Bright misses with a wild combination.
Bright tries a head kick but it misses.
Jo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bright sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jo somewhat.
A big left from Bright misses.
Jo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Bright.
Bright scores with the left hand. Jo knows he should have avoided that one.
Bright throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bright defends it nicely.
Bright throws a right hand that Jo ducks under and follows up with a left that Jo also avoids with ease.
A head kick misses from Bright.
Rainbow Bright seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A low kick from Bright is predictable there

and Jo counters with a single leg into guard. Bright didn't expect that.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jo won't allow Bright to sweep him here.

Jo stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Jo shoots in looking for a takedown. Bright tries to sprawl out of it but Jo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bright manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rainbow Bright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jo Jo.
Jo shoots for a takedown but Bright saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Jo shoots in and bounces Bright off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jo throwing strikes from guard but Bright blocks nicely.
Jo forces his way into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bright trying to control but Jo postures up.

Jo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bright defends it well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jo seems to be looking for submissions.
Bright wants to control but Jo is keeping busy.
Bright is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Jo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Bright has managed to free his arm - good work.

Jo is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bright sees it coming and defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bright is trying to stand.

Jo seems to be working for a kimura but Bright defends the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jo is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Bright is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jo Jo!
Jo Jo took his opportunity to call for a title shot in his post fight interview.
