PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ed Gein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rob Pain !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ed Gein!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gein shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Pain eats them both and turns towards Gein to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Pain shoots in and drives through. Gein sprawls well.

Pain drives through with a takedown into Gein's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Gein wants to get back to his feet but Pain is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Pain is keen to just control but Gein is a slippery customer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pain sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Pain tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gein sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pain somewhat.
Pain shoots in looking for a takedown. Gein tries to sprawl out of it but Pain keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gein manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Gein cracks Pain with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Gein lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Gein scores with a jab to the head.
Pain throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gein's waist but Gein gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pain off to one side.
Rob Pain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gein stuffs the takedown attempt from Pain . Pain gets slowly back to his feet.
Gein lands a two punch combo.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pain takes a body punch but keeps moving.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Pain crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gein - the referee stops the clock and Pain gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gein. Pain manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
A nice inside leg kick there by Gein. That's going to slow Pain down.
Gein throws a right hand that Pain ducks under and follows up with a left that Pain also avoids with ease.

Pain takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Gein looks to land a combination. Pain sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Pain shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gein as he jumps to the side.

Pain throws out a leg kick but Gein moves out of range and Pain only half commits.

Pain shoots for a double leg takedown but Gein sprawls well. He's pushed Pain 's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Gein fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Pain .

Pain takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Pain closes the distance and clinches up with Gein, looking for a takedown. Pain pushes Gein against the cage but Gein circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Pain looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Gein stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Gein wants it to stay on the feet.

Ed Gein showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Gein lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
