Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eiji Tate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mystic Zen!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tate circles away from the clinch attempt.
Zen throws an overhand right that lands on Tate's shoulder, as Tate tries to avoid the shot.
Mystic Zen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tate throws a right and a left that both miss.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Tate, as that shot connected.

Zen takes the fight into the clinch.
Zen is trying to break the clinch but Tate has him pressed against the cage.
Zen misses with a knee to the head.
Zen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Zen's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Zen manages to break the clinch.

Zen shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Zen wants to work for an arm triangle but Tate is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zen moves into full mount! Tate won't be happy about that!
Zen misses with a head shot.
Tate on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Tate tries to get out of the position.
Zen with good strikes from the mount here!
Zen in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Zen throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tate because Zen loaded up on that one.
Zen scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Zen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zen lands a big elbow.
Zen throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Zen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Tate hang on?


Tate is rocked!


It looks like Eiji Tate has been cut.
Zen postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Tate badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Zen around the waist but Zen pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Zen is the winner by TKO! Zen jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mystic Zen!
