Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Nunes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ichi Kakihara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nunes comes to the cage accompanied by Can't be touched. The crowd seem to be enjoying Kakihara's choice of entrance music: The Boredoms- Juu. Ichi Kakihara has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Diego Nunes's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Diego Nunes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ichi Kakihara!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kakihara plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Diego Nunes has been cut.
Kakihara shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nunes as he jumps to the side.

Kakihara moves into the clinch.

Kakihara is trying to trip Nunes. He has hold of a leg but Nunes is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Kakihara persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Kakihara is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kakihara is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Kakihara is looking for a sweep. Nunes is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Nunes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kakihara dives on top into guard.

Kakihara must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kakihara seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Nunes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Kakihara!

Kakihara tries to lock up and control but Nunes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kakihara is looking to improve his position but Nunes isn't that keen on the idea.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kakihara decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Kakihara gets to his feet - Nunes follows without any prompting.

Nunes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kakihara napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Ichi Kakihara has got the better of the ground game so far.
Nunes tries to advance to mount but Kakihara denies him.
Kakihara regains half guard.

Nunes tries to free his leg and advance position but Kakihara is retaining full guard.
Kakihara bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nunes's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kakihara lands a couple of elbows.

Kakihara stands up from Nunes's guard - Kakihara perhaps looking for a knockout.

Kakihara shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kakihara showed some decent athleticism there.

Kakihara is working for a kimura but Nunes is defending it quite comfortably.

Kakihara really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nunes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kakihara is looking to pass to full mount but he's left his head exposed in the process. Nunes has locked up a guillotine and regained full guard. He's really cranking on it - this could be the end! Is it? Is it? No... YES! YES! He's tapped! I didn't think he was going to get it there for a minute but he did! Well done Nunes! He waited for his chance and took it!
