The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burgess defends well against a solid takedown attempt from James Da Silva.

and Burgess counters with a shoot takedown. James Da Silva fights it but they end up in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James Da Silva had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Burgess defends it easily.

James Da Silva drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Burgess dives on top into guard.

Burgess got a little sloppy there for a moment and James Da Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Burgess has managed to get both his arms back between James Da Silva's legs - danger averted.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
