The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Springer is looking to improve his position.

Horrible takedown by Sonnen or perhaps it was just good defense by Springer which made him look bad.
Sonnen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Springer looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Sonnen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
