Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marcin Piekarz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Twan Aerts! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aerts shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Piekarz as he avoids it easily. Aerts darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Piekarz avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Aerts. Aerts wants to stand but Piekarz has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Piekarz trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Piekarz trying to get back to full guard but Aerts takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Piekarz is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Piekarz really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Aerts working for a guillotine from mount but Piekarz is in no mood to give up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aerts with the ground and pound from mount.
It looks like Marcin Piekarz has been cut. Piekarz is wriggling around trying to escape.
Aerts looking to control but Piekarz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Piekarz is looking to get to half guard. Piekarz wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aerts scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Aerts is punishing Piekarz with some ground and pound. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Aerts is trying to stick to Piekarz's back but Piekarz is turning into Aerts. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Aerts's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Piekarz. Aerts really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Piekarz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Aerts trying to keep a closed guard but Piekarz is proving a slippery customer.
Aerts looking for a guillotine here but Piekarz defends easily.
Piekarz is fighting to break Aerts's control of his arms but Aerts is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Aerts doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aerts working a defensive guard but Piekarz passes into half guard.
Aerts actively working from the bottom here. Aerts is trying to control Piekarz's posture. Piekarz takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Aerts! Piekarz is rotating here... this could be the end... Aerts is out! Piekarz has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
