The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Oliveira fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
De Oliveira throws a nice looking combination but Pappas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Pappas closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. De Oliveira did well to prevent Pappas getting side control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pappas is looking for a kimura but De Oliveira is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pappas to get the leverage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Pappas enables De Oliveira to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Pappas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Pappas looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but De Oliveira is defending well. Pappas quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! De Oliveira has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Pappas celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
