Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mamed Khalidov Senior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Eric Worrell!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Worrell looking to score a takedown here. Khalidov Senior is defending well but Worrell drives through and ends up in Khalidov Senior's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Khalidov Senior keeping full guard, as Worrell tries to pass.
Khalidov Senior looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Khalidov Senior working a defensive guard but Worrell passes into half guard.
Worrell not doing much here.
Worrell uses his free foot to push down on Khalidov Senior's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Khalidov Senior.
Khalidov Senior manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Worrell keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Khalidov Senior wants to control but Worrell is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Worrell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Khalidov Senior's head.

Let's hope that Worrell has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Worrell wants to work for an arm triangle but Khalidov Senior is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
It looks like Worrell might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Eric Worrell was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Worrell avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Worrell drives through with a takedown into Khalidov Senior's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Khalidov Senior had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Worrell defends it easily.

Khalidov Senior gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Worrell to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Worrell seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Khalidov Senior looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Worrell slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Worrell controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Eric Worrell hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Worrell shoots in looking for a takedown. Khalidov Senior tries to sprawl out of it but Worrell keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Khalidov Senior manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Khalidov Senior tries to clinch but Worrell is having none of it.

Worrell looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Worrell looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Worrell wants to pass to mount but Khalidov Senior is defending the position.

Worrell feints and as Khalidov Senior raises his hands in defense, Worrell changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Worrell sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Khalidov Senior's guard.
Worrell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Worrell perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Eric Worrell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Worrell has hold of Khalidov Senior's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Khalidov Senior tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Worrell cranks the arm and Khalidov Senior screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Khalidov Senior, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

In his post fight interview, Eric Worrell started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
